USQP DVD Premiere Party and DVD PREMIERE REVIEW!
For weeks the buzz ‘round town was the Universal Showqueen Pagaent and how newly crowned USQ Coco Chadelier set the standards for next year. People were still gagged at the luscious colors, flavorful costumes, the talented performances and the abundant beauty on stage for this year’s pageant. There was only one thing left to wait for to relive the moment experienced, the highly anticipated USQ DVD Release Party being thrown by Brent Anbe Productions, UniversalShowqueenDVD. com and Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand. And let me tell you, Brent threw an AWESOME party!
Hula’s was revamped and decorated like the Red Carpet Events reminiscent
at the Historic Hawaii Theatre in the early 40’s and 50’s. Red Velvet
draped the staging area with swooping tropical arrangements pouring from all
corners. Video screens were present at all areas to give everyone a great view
where ever they were positioned.Crowds of people packed the spacious club as
party goers were excited with the aura of glamour and sexiness ever present.
Flash and snapshots were like fireworks going off as people were taking pictures
with some of the local celebrities in our gay community as well as the former
Universal Showqueen winners. The MC of the evening was the Classic DIVA herself…former
USQ 1990 – Dina Jacobs who welcomed all with whitty repertoire and hysterical
jokes which got the crowd into a frenzy. This signaled the start of the LIVE
show put on by some of the formers.First to grace the stage was USQ 1997 –
Keisha who easily slammed the dance ministry in motion and rocked the crowd
with her Hip Hop flavor. Next was USQ 2007 – Maddalyn Ashton who served
us a lil bit of soul beauty and eased the partiers with some R&B. Sparkling
in silver was USQ 1994 – Aiko who painted the stage with glamour and glitz
which awed the audience. The statuesque USQ 2001 – Kaina hypnotized everyone
with her sensuality in a captivating number. Serving us comedy and humor was
the ultimate diva herself – USQ 1991 – Dina Jacobs. Closing out
the live performances was the sex kitten herself…USQ 1995 Sharee Lamour,
who’s outfit left little to the imagination.Brent also featured some special
video presentations from Coco Chandelier as well one of his earlier music videos
– “One Night in Bangcock” featuring VIVA Tropicana. He then
did a throw back by featuring other music videos by formers USQs…Sharee
Lamour, Kaina Jacobs and Keisha.
The crowd was LIVING!
Mr. Anbe then thanked everyone who made the night possible and did a photo op
with the formers USQs in attendance. At that point all the hype and excitement
climaxed as the USQ 2008 DVD started its opening music. The USQ 2008 DVD is simply
a masterpiece.Brent Anbe did an outstanding job in capturing the very essence
of the excitement, glamour and talent on stage that night. The evening started
off with Maddalyn Ashton’s opening number of Rags to Riches featuring
her beautiful Samoan sisters (Jasmine and Tiffy) and herself in a PLUS SIZE
rendition of DREAM GIRLS.To the signature opening of “Spring Rain”,
Black and White Presentation kicked off the pageant divisions. Each contestant
had to model a couture outfit in black, white or both.
These girls were serving you nothing but primp, ramp and runway!
Evening gown showed off
each contestants ability to be poised, graceful and elegant while modeling their
gown.
They looked absolutely gorgeous!
TALENT is where things got even more interesting. This year, the energy level
for this division was off the hook! Each contestant did a performance that was
creative and out of the box. Brent added in special effects that added even
more flavor to each act. Production numbers seemed to dominate this year and
just made this 25th anniversary simply unforgettable.SHOWGIRL saw an influx
of color and imagination drenched throughout the stage. Sequins, rhinestones,
feathers, skin and glitz conquered the contestants. Each worked the runway in
a dazzling display of sensuality, pride and pageantry.Tear jerker of the moment
was Maddalyn Ashton’s stepdown number as everyone flooded to the stage
with dollar bills, flowers and well wishes. It also featured a video montage
of her with friends and family throughout her reign. It gripped your heart,
warmed your soul and brought a tear to your eye.As crowning ended the DVD, the
excitement was still going as winners of each division was announced and finally
Coco Chandlier was crowned as winner.

Over all, Brent Anbe brought justice to the legacy, tradition and elegance that
is USQ. It is pure andrenaline from the beginning of the DVD to the ending credits,
To see what he sees behind the lens and brings it to you in a way to appreciate
the art form even more is astonishing. He is such a creative genius and talented
